Missions
The Missions of First Baptist Swannanoa are EPIC!
Every
Person
Is
Commissioned
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20a
Our church is a mission-minded church and we want to reach our community, our state, our nation, and our world for Christ. We are always looking for ways to help those in need by showing and sharing the love of Christ. We give and we go!
Here are just a few ways we are involved in missions:
Women's Missions
Our women are involved in monthly meetings that provide mission education, Bible study, and prayer. They are also involved in the community through various activities. Some help in the prison ministry and with mentoring other women. They also host "Queen For A Day" which ministers to homeless women.
Baptist Men
Our Baptist men are involved in community ministry. They help with small construction needs like building handicap ramps for those who cannot afford to pay for such work. They also volunteer at the local homeless shelter and provide mentoring for boys in our church. They meet regularly for Bible study on Sunday nights at 5:30 p.m.
Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry
The SVCM helps people in our area from Ridgecrest to Oteen. They minister to those in need by providing food, clothes, and meeting other needs. Our church supports this ministry financially as well as helping them by collecting food and other items. The SVCM accepts donations from the community. Their phone number is 669-9404.
Mission Haiti
Our church supports Mission Haiti as they work alongside missionary Phyllis Newby in Haiti. They minister to the Haitians through construction, medical clinics, hunger relief, pastor training, and various other ways. We have teams from our church who go and serve for a week or two week period.

Honduras
Some in our church are involved with medical/Evangelistic missions to the people of Honduras. You don't have to be medical personnel to go on this trip, everyone can be used to help. Current basic cost is $1500.00. (Please contact by email to see if there is still a spot available to go).
The next trip to Honduras is March 17-24, 2012. We will give out eyeglasses, rice and beans, tracts, solar radios, bibles, have VBS, and dental care again. If there is enough interest, there will be a construction team component along with the evangelism and medical clinic. So there is a place for you! If you cannot physically go you can pray, financially help someone else go or collect items.(Over the counter eyeglasses, cough drops, tums, ointments.) Evangelistic Events
It is our goal to make every event, ministry, or program evangelistic. Evangelism is a part of VBS, Upward Basketball, our Passion Play, and other events. We are making plans now to provide more events for the community that will give us the opportunity to share the love of Christ with as many people as possible. We would love to have you become involved.
A Company of Love
ACOL is our clown and puppet ministry. They are available to do shows at events. They share the message of Christ in everything they do.
If you would like more information on any of these ministries, please contact Karen Bonds, Minister of Education and Outreach at 686-5123 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
